the proposed works consist of the construction of front of school upgrades at St. Mary’s Central National School, Killenaule, Co. Tipperary, encompasses a site of approximately 0.37 ha, to include parts of Bailey Street and Killenuale School Road within the townlands of Killenaule and Knockavadagh. The Proposed front of school upgrade works to be carried out at the above site, consists of: - Three gateway type sign locations for drivers on the southbound approach to the school on the R689, these include speed limit signs, driver feedback signs and school zone signs, - Two raised crossing locations on the R689, one uncontrolled at the junction to the church carpark, the raised crossing to the shop is upgraded to a zebra crossing. - A raised table on the R689 immediately north of the school junction. - Junction tightening at the entrance to the church car park to improve visibility for drivers exiting the car park. - Upgrading of existing footpaths, - The provision of associated signage and road markings to define gateways and the Front of School Zone; - The addition of new bus stop with shelter for the northbound service and the installation of a bus stop pole with bus kerbs for the southbound service. - All associated site and ancillary works above and below ground. The Proposed Development includes upgrading of public footpaths to the front of Saint Marys National School (NIAH Ref 22103004). The development will involve groundworks within a zone of archaeological potential and has potential for impact on archaeology. All groundworks associated with the development will be subject to archaeological monitoring and undertaken in line with the requirements of the Department of Culture, heritage and the gaeltacht to ensure significant adverse impacts on archaeology are mitigated.
